Academy for Creating Enterprise Announces the Appointment of Douglas D. Holmes as Chairman of the Board

Salt Lake City, UT (September 2020):  Academy for Creating Enterprise today announced the appointment of Douglas D. Holmes as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Holmes joined the board in 2014 and brings many years of experience in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors.

I am incredibly proud of our accomplishments: over 30,000 people in eight countries have been given the tools to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. Our international entrepreneur support network has grown to 551 chapters and will continue to grow. I am confident in our future and in Doug’s leadership as we continue to grow and expand our impact,” said Robert Heyn, CEO.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Chairman of the ACE Board of Directors,” said Holmes. “ACE has proven the effectiveness of its programs and I look forward to helping the organization scale to help as many people as possible.”

Holmes has over 30 years of entrepreneurial experience; he is the Founder and CEO of D&E Development. He spent much of his career in the telecommunications industry with MediaOne Group, a fortune 100, international telecommunications company that was sold to AT&T in 1999.  At MediaOne he held various positions including CFO and Executive Vice President of strategy, corporate development and technology. 

Prior to his work at MediaOne, Holmes was a strategy consultant with Booz Allen and Hamilton.  He also served on several company boards including Time Warner Entertainment, IPIX, InfoGear, and Time Warner Telecom.  In addition, he has served in multiple volunteer positions including chair of The United Way of Davis Co.  and Parents for Choice in Education.

His service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints includes, first counselor in the young men general presidency, president of the Michigan Detroit Mission, stake presidency counselor, and bishop.
