Meet monaliza

Monaliza Clasicas

Monaliza, (Mona) is a registered nutritionist that worked for hospitals and big restaurant chains. Mona’s employment allowed her to finance her kids’ needs; however, when she could no longer compete with the younger employees at her work, she was left with no income to depend on. She and her husband decided to go back to their province to avoid the large expenses of living in the city. After graduating from the Academy, Mona began her small food processing business in 2018 by buying fresh spices like thyme, oregano, basil, from local farmers in the area then drying them using a rented dehydrator or other drying equipment. To use the rented dehydrator Mona has to wait for it to become available and then dry the spices for 8-10 hours. Mona sells dried spices with a longer shelf life than undried spices which allows her to ship her spices and gives her customers longer lasting spices.

Wanted: Food Dehydrator equipment

Mona’s production averages 60 kilos of spice a month and she pays 200 pesos for every kilo of spice dried. Her cost of goods would decrease significantly if she could have her own food dehydrator equipment to use for her own production and to rent out when she isn’t using it. A second hand food dehydrator costs 16,000 pesos and it is available just two towns away from where Mona lives. With her own dehydrator she can double her production by not having to wait for an available dehydrator and also increase her net profit by decreasing her cost of goods sold.
